2 BALANCED SCORECARD // HEALTH & SAFETY

We are continuing to build a strong Health and Safety culture, with a range of initiatives to increase our internal performance and the quality of service we offer our clients.

Having set the goal of being considered a world leader in Health & Safety, how do we measure progress? Progress indicators are our people reporting Health & Safety issues, helping us to improve, learn and protect one another with the outcome that no one gets hurt on the job and at home.

In the first full year of our global incident and hazard reporting tool, average monthly reporting doubled to almost 800 per month. This led to the identification and correction of isolated, as well as systemic workplace hazards. It was also a key factor in reducing our 2008 Total Recordable Case Rate (TRCR) to 0.8% in December, from 1.4% in January. TRCR describes the number of recordable incidents (requiring more than first aid) that occur annually per 100 employees.

This is progress that we can clearly see and can build on in 2009. Key Health & Safety highlights are discussed in detail on page 21.
