March 27, 2012

Golder Associates today announced the appointment of Adam Kilsby as its new leader for Australasia.

A global consulting, design and construction services company, Golder has more than 1,200 employees and annual turnover exceeding $200 million in Australasia, a growing region for the employee-owned group employing 8,000 people worldwide with global turnover of more than $1.2 billion.

Effective Friday, Mr Kilsby will replace Darren Watt as Managing Director for Australia and Region Vice President for Australasia, a key position for the expanding global company.

Having joined Golder in 1997, Mr Kilsby has led Golder's environmental services team in South Australia for four years. Between 2003 and 2007 he managed the Adelaide office, before being appointed National Operations Manager in 2008.

Mr Watt has been appointed Golder's global Vice-President, People after over seven years successful leadership. He will assume his new role in May.

Welcoming the appointments, Golder Associates President and CEO, Brian H. Conlin, said Mr Kilsby brought a wealth of experience to his new and important role.

"Adam has made an impressive contribution to Golder, representing our company as a civil and geotechnical engineer, environmental services consultant, project manager, operations manager and Principal," Mr Conlin said.

"I am very confident he will continue the Australasian region's record of outstanding achievement."

Acknowledging Mr Watt's leadership, Mr Conlin said the group had achieved significant growth, expanding in Australia from 350 staff to more than 1,000.

"Darren Watt has played a major role in consolidating Golder's presence in Australasia through developing existing centres of excellence," he said.

"He has overseen the successful introduction of numerous new service offerings. These include a thriving construction group that enables Golder to provide fully integrated solutions."

Mr Watt said, "When I first took on the role of Australasia leader, I wanted Golder to become a significant player in advancing Australian business and infrastructure.

"The recognition we have gained through numerous client and industry awards demonstrates the success of our focus on client and technical service excellence, while showing the greater contribution that engineers and scientists can make to society."

Under Mr Watt's leadership, Golder won Best Employer award for three straight years and Best Consulting Engineering Firm for seven consecutive years.

In March 2012, Golder increased its record of success at the BRW/Beaton Client Choice Awards with another five awards, adding to its record total of 21 awards. Golder was named Best Professional Services Firm (revenue between $50 million and $200 million), an award won under Mr Watt in his first and last year of leadership.

Golder also won during the same period national engineering and environmental awards for a range of projects, including for Brisbane's CLEM7 project and Melbourne Water's Dandenong site remediation, from leading industry bodies including Consult Australia, Engineers Australia and the Urban Development Institute of Australia.

"In my new global VP role, I will aim to continue this success globally and ensure that Golder can deliver to our clients the very best people to their projects, irrespective of their location around the world," Mr Watt added.

Mr Kilsby said he was excited to be assuming his new role for Golder.

"I look forward to building on our strong foundations to continue to achieve great outcomes for our clients and further growth for Golder, both in Australia and across our region," he said.
